Vegetarians eat eggs, dairy, and honey. IOW, some animal products but nothing that the animal dies for.

Vegans do not eat animal by-products.

Of course, both are on a spectrum. For example, some cheeses use enzymes that originate from a cow’s gut lining. Some vegetarians will still eat it. Especially when eating out. Having a pizza joint…
